This portrait honors Frida Kahlo’s resilience ‘Frieda For Her Tenacity’—not only in the face of personal pain, but in her bold, unapologetic expression of identity and love. Her life was a tapestry of contradictions: vulnerability and strength, joy and sorrow, physical suffering and deep, expansive love. Through this piece, I sought to capture that emotional and spiritual complexity.

Paying homage to the vibrant Otomi embroidery style of Mexico, known as Tenangos, the canvas was hand embroidered to highlight this folkloric craft style. Reinforcing Frida’s cultural pride, which was not only central to her art but also woven into her fashion and self-expression.
