Meet The Founder — Asé Arts

Nichole Talbott is a multimedia artist who draws from her design expertise to incorporate layering techniques that explore Afro-Indigenous history and traditional art-making practices. By merging natural elements with self-created imagery, she transforms her work into symbolic narratives of resilience and cultural preservation.

Utilizing printmaking, painting, fiber arts, and sculpture, Nichole creates both two-dimensional and three-dimensional works that bridge ancient traditions with contemporary expression. For her, layering is a regenerative process—one that retraces history, honors ancestral strength, and fosters communal healing. She believes in the healing, transformative powers of the arts and advocates everyday to improve the arts ecosystem in the Bay Area. “It is essential to center and support the work of Artists as foundational pillars to developing vibrant, resilient, and economically abundant neighborhoods that are rich in heritage, diversity, and social opportunity.”- Nichole Talbott

“As an arts educator I strive to provide a foundation for my students that will help them as they mature as artists and as individuals. My approach to teaching is an student inquiry-based model that is rooted in process based learning following three principles of self-exploration, modeling and guiding. Students are given the space to explore their interests and develop their own ideas. They are challenged to use critical thinking skills to come up with innovative solutions. This approach creates an safe environment that inspires experimentation, risk taking, failure, collaboration and community building . ”
