Who We Are
Asé Arts provides high quality accessible art classes for youth four to seventeen years old throughout the Bay Area. Arts education is an integral part of a student’s complete education and what I feel is lacking in the systems current curricula. The arts harbor a sense of value and accomplishment. The arts help foster an individual sense of identity. I truly believe that when presented with the opportunity to learn through the arts individuals develop socially, emotionally, creatively, intellectually and physically becoming more well rounded individuals. It’s my passion to show others the importance of the visual arts in today’s society and help them to understand how it contributes to every aspect of daily life.
Reflecting on the root of the Yoruba word Ase -the power to make things happen and bring about change. Art is a catalyst that provokes thought, conversation, actions and change having a profound effect on our society, our everyday lives and our community.
It is Asé Arts vision to provide accessible high quality art experiences through classes, workshops and community events. Designed to introduce references to artists of the past and present, use of materials, and skills building through visual arts techniques. Asé Arts provides a guided exploration through a process based model will challenges participants to build upon their own ideas, to use innovative thinking, and challenges them to critically while reflecting on failures and successes of the process.
